Parents Onboarding
last edited bethany / 04 April
Summary: The onboarding process for newly joined parents includes regular photo/video updates and mood descriptions of their child, with a specified duration for receiving these updates based on the child’s age.
Purpose: The purpose is to keep parents informed about their child’s adjustment to the school environment and provide reassurance during the settling-in period.
Scope: This process applies to all newly joined children, with specific guidelines for the frequency and duration of updates for both younger (18 months to 3 years) and older (4 to 6 years) children.
Onboarding for Newly Joined Parents - Rule of Thumb for Principals
Updates (Photos, Videos, and Mood):
Teachers should provide at least 2-3 photos or videos daily of the new student during nap time.
Each photo or video must include a brief description of how the child is adjusting to the school environment, including their mood.
Length of Constant Updates:
For Older Children (4-6 years old): Parents will receive daily updates for the first 2 weeks.
For Younger Children (18 months to 3 years old): Parents will typically receive updates for the first 2 weeks. If parents wish to extend this period to a month, they may request approval from the Principal, depending on the child’s adjustment. Updates regarding motion patterns and sleep habits will also be provided during this time.
After One Month: Updates will only be given if there are unusual incidents. If no updates are provided, parents can assume everything is normal.
Rule of Thumb:
All requests for extended updates or specific details should be directed through the Principal.
Teachers should be more accommodating and flexible with younger children, while for older children, the approach can be firmer.
