Bathrooms

Design Specifications

Flooring

Anti-slip tiles are used to maximise safety and minimise accidents.

Sinks

Child-friendly sinks are situated outside the bathroom in order to optimise bathroom space. Faucets are designed with a turn-style mechanism for easy operation by young children.

Seating and Storage

Benches are fabricated from waterproof materials and installed at a low height for easy accessibility. Edges should be curved for children safety.

  • Bottom of the bench: 25cm off the ground

  • Bench thickness: 5cm

  • Top of the bench: 30cm off the ground

Below these benches, plastic containers will be provided for the convenient storage of children's clothes.

Storage for Staff Supplies

Adult storage cabinets are mounted above the benches to hold essential supplies such as gloves, plastic bags, and cleaning equipment.

Toilet Facilities

Unisex toilet cubicles are located closer to the entrance for increased dryness and convenience, and each is equipped with a bidet.

Shower and Changing Area

Situated further within the bathroom layout, providing a curtain to ensure added privacy.

Sliding Door Design

To achieve a streamlined design and reduce accident potential, a sliding door will serve as the bathroom entrance. This door will remain open during regular operations to facilitate ease of movement. Toilet cubicles have individual doors, and the changing area is fitted with a privacy curtain.

Additional Design Notes

  • Shower Area Sloping: The floor of the shower area is subtly sloped to guide water efficiently into the drainage system.

  • Floor Transition: To ensure safety and accessibility, the transition from the shower area to the changing area is characterized by a gentle, seamless slope, without any abrupt humps that could pose a tripping hazard.

  • Bench Space: The bench area is strategically designed to maximise seating capacity, accommodating as many children as comfortably possible.

  • Privacy Measures: A curtain should be provided to delineate the changing area, ensuring privacy for the children during shower time.
